The Digital Humanities Start-Up Grant Level I from the National Endowment for the Humanities funded the development “Fashion Fusion,” a publicly available web-based application. Fashion Fusion is a catalogue of historic clothing enabling interactive study of a three dimensional digital image of a historic garment and replication of it with downloadable pattern pieces. This pilot has a sample of 15 garments reflective of WWII themes from the Beeman Historic Costume Collection – a collection at Ball State University featuring fashionable clothing from 1800 to the present. Technological uses of photogrammetry for 3D modeling and measuring were explored. The project audiences are museum professionals, clothing history researchers and teachers, students, and designers for theater and reenacting.
